Rui Gato

After leaving his studies in architecture to pursue music and sound design, Rui has been developing multidisciplinary sonic laboratory work, with the modulation of sonic matter and the exploration of its limits as his main conceptual basis. His professional and artistic activities centre on real-time musical composition and human/machine interfaces, where he has been developing the use of cutting-edge technology. More recently he started exploring the visual universe, with focus on the areas of 3D / Motion Design / Interactivity / Mapping. Rui developed several original music projects, as well as sound design for live performances, short films, documentaries, dance, spoken word, video art and theatre. Currently he is Lab Director at the OCUBO studio.

Rui did the Comporta Weather Station Residency #3 and one of its reports.
